Here's me all ready to jump in the car. I'm holding my pet Swannie plus Rabbie. Today we going on a short drive to La Roque-Gageac which is a pretty village on the river Dordogne. We're going on a tour along the river.
On the way we drove through Beynac where we had a look at the castle there, but we didn't go in. There was also a nice view of the river from there too.
The tour on the river was really good. The tour guide spoke in French but we each got some headphones to hear a recorded commentary in English. We got to hear about the history of the village but also the history of river transportation and trading. It lasted about 2 hours and went from La Roque up to the next bridge then back again. There were lots of canoes on the river too.
After our tour, we had drinks and icecream in the village, in one of the roadside cafes under an umbrella. It was very nice.
Back in the cottage, we had Foie Gras for appetizer and Grandma made spaghetti for dinner. We had a William Fevre Chablis and a Nuits Saint Georges Burgandy (Pinot Noir) with dinner. Here's a picture of us sitting around the table off to the side of the house under the 200-year-old tree that is growing there.
