Myrtle Beach

It's a long weekend so we're spending three days at Myrtle Beach. We we at Myrtle Beach last year too and this year we're staying at the same place, Embassy Suites at Kingston Plantation. We're right on the beach, plus there are pools and a great splash pool with slides and all sorts of fun things. We have a room on the 20th floor looking south down the beach plus also overlooking the pools.

Today was our first full day having arrived Friday night very late. We didn't get lost because Daddy used new toy, a Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS receiver (thanks to previous birthday money and Christmas money, thank you Uncle Paul and Grandma Gabriele), which actually only arrived yesterday.

Anyway after breakfast downstairs, we set up at the splash pool and spent the rest of the morning there. I really liked the "lazy river" where I could sit on a blow-up doughnut and float around this little river of water. I'm big enough now that I can sit in one all by myself, although Daddy had to walk behind me in case I got into trouble. It was really good. I also played in the various pools and one time, I even went down one of the slides with Daddy. How about that! After lunch, I didn't want to have a nap so Mummy & I went down to the pool again (Daddy wasn't feeling well so he stayed in the room), then we went to the beach for a little bit.

In the evening we had drinkies in the hotel and then went to a seafood restaurant for dinner. I was pretty tired towards the end so went home to bed. Tomorrow we're going to spend some quality time at the beach. I've got all my beach toys with me and Daddy and I are going to make a really big sandcastle.

Yesterday was our second full day at Myrtle Beach, and we spent most of the day on the beach. Mummy went down early to rent two chairs and a big umbrella from the lifeguard, then Daddy and I went down there and then he went and got some coffee, milk, and muffins for a light breakfast and we ate it there. Then we all went upstairs, got into our swimmers and put sunscreen on and collected all my beach toys and stuff.

I had a great time playing in the sand with all my shovels and buckets. Daddy helped too. At first I started in front of the chairs but the tide started coming in and that scared me a little bit (plus my sand castles kept washing away), so I moved to behind the chairs where the ocean wouldn't get me. The water started encroaching on me again, but it wasn't the rushing like before so it was actually quite fun - I now had a big puddle I could sit in and dig in. Daddy declined to come and sit with me in the sandy water. Mum & Dad were both OK because their chairs were still above water. I had some friends to play with so that was good.

About 1 o'clock we went and had lunch at the pool bar. I got a special hot-dog in a bucket along with a fancy blue drink. We were debating whether to swim in the pool or go back to the beach, but we decided to resume our spots on the beach. By the time we got back, the water had receeded again, but I was Ok with playing in the back. I had more fun playing with the kids in the seats next door.

I didn't really want to go into the ocean, but at one point I conscripted Daddy to help fetch some water in buckets from the ocean to fill the big hole we were digging. He said I had to help and he managed to get me in to the water up to my waist. That was enough thank you.

By about 3:30, we decided to go to the pool for a bit and went and played in the little diamond-shaped pool I could see from our balcony - it was about 50cm (1.5 ft) deep so just my size. We played there for a bit then we went up stiars and had a bit of a break before heading downstairs for dinner in the Omaha Steakhouse restaurant in the hotel. It was pretty good, but I was starting to get tired towards the end of the day - I had a big day!

Today we had breakfast then went for a walk on the beach where I collected sandshells in my bucket. The I sat on the edge of my diamond pool for a few minutes then we went upstairs to pack (I supervised and watched TV). The trip home was uneventful and we were home about 3.5 hours later.

A great weekend.

Yesterday afternoon, Daddy wanted me to have a nap. He put me to bed and as he normally does, he pointed to the clock in my room and told me to stay in bed till the little hand was on the 4. I know what this means and I'm usually pretty good about only waking up when it's near the appointed hour.

However today I wasn't really interested in napping. I got up a few times but Daddy was insistent. One time, I came to the office where he was working and told him it was after 4. He checked his watch but it was still 2:30, however I told him again that the clock said 4. I took him back to my bedroom and showed him - it was after 4! You see, I tricked him - I figured out how to change the time on my clock!

Clever huh?

Mummy's going to Toronto for three days this Thursday so I'm looking after Daddy.
