Still sick

Sleeping in Mummy & Daddy's bed. Comfy!I'm still not feeling very well today, so Mummy stayed home from her work to mind me. I got to have a late sleep in the parental units' bed. Pretty comfy.

We were upstairs playing with my toys, but then I walked over to the remote control, picked it up, and went back to Mummy and said "DVD". So we watched one of my Baby Einstein videos. That was good. We also read some books, and played some more with my toys. We played my new computer game too. I was a bit off my food - I didn't even want to eat my blueberries, that's how sick I was.

In the afternoon however, my pal Katie came over and took over looking after me, so Mummy could do some of her work. We watch Sesame Street (I especially like Elmo). We played some more with my toys and stuff. Then I walked over and got the remote control. Since Katie hadn't seen me pull this trick with Mummy earlier in the morning, I went back to her with the remote and said "DVD?" to her too. So I got to watch my video a second time. Clever huh? Then I fell asleep on Katie's lap. That was nice, except I woke up all hot and grumpy. The ibuprofen helped a lot as did the strawberry icecream I got (sick people food).

I had a good time even though I was sick. It was nice of Katie to look after me.

My staff photographer discovered some photos from last month that hadn't been published till now. Check 'em out.

Watching one of my DVDs!I stayed at home again today, so I can be all better by Monday. Daddy stayed home too. We had a pretty fun time too. I did my current trick on him, picking up the remote control, and giving it to him saying "DVD?". So I got to watch my program as expected!

Later in the morning we went out to Target to pick up a few things for me. We stopped by the local Starbucks for coffee and a muffin too. Then we met Gerrie for lunch at the Atlantic Bread Company. I wasn't feeling very hungry so I just played with my food. Afterwards, Gerrie taught me how to throw pennies into the fountain outside. An odd concept really.

After lunch, Daddy and I played some more, then I went down for a long nap - almost 3 hours! My Mummy came home about 6 in time for me to have my dinner, a bath, some milk and some bedtime books, then bed. A pretty good day for a Friday.

Me on the swing at the parkI've had a great day so far today. This afternoon, the three of us went to the park (the one corner of Lynn and Lead Mine Roads). It was lots of fun -- I got to play on the swings, down the slippery slide and two of the rocking horses. In the park there, they have a set of play equipment for little kids and one for big kids. We played mostly on the little kids ones, but we checked out the other set too. Now that it is getting warmer, I hope we'll come back lots more!

Tonight will be good too. Amanda's coming over to play with me while Mummy, Daddy, Gerrie and Dick, and Katie all go to Raleigh Little Theatre's "Divas!" night, a "revue"-type evening with 10 or so singings vying for the crown of RLT's 2005 Diva. Should be fun, but I know I'll enjoy myself with 'manda!

Even though my parents make fun of me all the time, I'm too much of big girl to stoop to their level. So I won't point out that they locked the keys in the car the other night. No I won't be so childish. Fortunately we were at the supermarket with a Starbucks next door, so we had coffee and cake until the little man came and opened it for Daddy.

My staff are getting better at understanding what I want. For example, if I'm still hungry at meal time, I tap a finger or my thumb on my tray and make a little noise. Check out a movie of my skills (2.3 MB AVI). Or if I'm finished, I'll rub my hands together and say "ish" a few times. They get the hint.

I'm getting good at helping tidy up the house. Yesterday, I helped by putting shoes away in the laundry basket. Daddy appreciated that - especially this morning!

New teeth!

I have two new teeth - one either side of my two top front teeth. Pretty cool huh? Plus there's some peeking in at the back too. I might have as many as 10 teeth now!

I'm having a great week so far and it started by having a great weekend. On Saturday morning, I went to see Lewie, my stylist, to get a trim. I had 2cm taken off the back - my hair was long! In the afternoon, I went with my staff to see a show - The Emperor's New Clothes at RLT. It was a fun show with lots of interesting costumes. I was interested for most of the show, but towards the end I wanted to get down off Daddy's (and Mummy's) lap and walk around. So Daddy took me outside and Lynn Freeman, the house manager, played with me for the last 10 minutes of the show.

Sunday, we went to the park and I played in the sand a bit, then we went to the mall for clothes shopping (for Mummy not me!). That was pretty good - I played with Daddy around all the clothes hanging up on the racks. But I got a bit bored with that, so we went out of the department store and in to the mall where after a short time, I fell asleep in my pram.

In the afternoon, while Mummy did more shopping, Daddy & I went next door to Ken & Jean's to play. Ellie was there too and I had lots of fun playing with her. She has a cool tub of sand and she and I played with her shovels and buckets. And the family's dogs Boston and Bernie were their too - now that was fun. I like playing with dogs and got to pat them and stuff. I had my juice with me so I didn't get thirsty and Daddy and Ken (and later David, Ellie's Dad) had beers so they didn't get thirsty either. It was a great afternoon.

This week has been good so far. The weather's been good on the whole so we've played outside a fair bit. I've been doing some painting and reading books and singing songs too. Lots of fun. This Friday is Good Friday and I have a day off from my school, and Daddy has a day off too from his school, so we'll have a fun day I'm sure.

My favourite songs are:

  • The wheels on the bus (go round and round)
  • Old Macdonald
  • Row row row your boat
  • Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
  • ABCs
  • Baa Baa Black Sheep

I know the words and movements to them as well!

Last weekend was Easter weekend and there was a Easter egg hunt down at the pool at our community. So we all went down there to check it out. It was a bit cold and drisly, but it looked like fun. Mummy got me a really nice basket to put all my eggs in. It was pretty good fun -- I wasn't sure what to do at first, but I figured it out quick enough. In the end I found 8 eggs! And it turns out they had chocolate in them! The bigger kids were in another part of the pool area so they didn't rush us to find them. Afterwards, there were cupcakes, balloons, and bubbles to play with. I had a really good time.
