Happy New Year 2004!

I have the power!I like the fan in the lounge room. If I wave at it, it spins round and round, just like my crib mobile. I have the power!! This picture here shows me in my crib with my power.

I haven't been very well today. I think I might be suffering from the injections I had the other day. I haven't been sleeping very well today. Last night, I had good sleep (8 hours - a new Zoe record), but today is a different story.

Seen on a t-shirt: "Baroque (adj): When you are out of Monet".

Overheard

Overheard in the bathroom: "It's only funny until someone loses a sock."

Changes, changes...

Today was a day of changes. First of all, Grandma left to go back home to Melbourne. Very sad. So its just Mum and Dad to tend to my every need! Second of all, my staff set up my room today and, I'm trying out my crib tonight as my new bed to sleep in. Everyone's hoping I'll get used to it nice and quickly, and no more bassinet. We'll see...

Red duck, green duck, blue duck

Yesterday was Mummy's first day all alone with me. Dad's now back at work, and Grandma is back in Melbourne. We survived. I certainly like my swing that the Fearn's loaned to me, and I like the ducks that my great grandmother gave me too (you can see the ducks hanging on the swing). However, I think Mummy's going a little insane with the "red duck, green duck, blue duck" all the time - but I like it!

More snow!

Its snowing here in Raleigh! Unlike my first snow, this time its snowing for longer (so far, 30 mins) and snow is accumulating on the ground. Its very pretty!

It snowed until just after lunch. We got about 2" (5cm) of snow - looks lovely!

My first babysitter

On Friday night, I let Mummy & Daddy go out for Gail's retirement dinner (courtesy of big blue). I stayed home and entertained a guest of my own - Katie Bowra came over to look after me. I had a most pleasant evening with her (slept through most of it) and hope to do it again.

My fist snow fall is still on the ground and looks really nice. Too cold for me (below freezing overnight) - I just look at it through the windows.

I'm sleeping upstairs in my bedroom overnight now which I like. During the day I play on my swing and on my playmat, get carried around either in people's arms or in my carrier, or nap/play in my bassinet. Oh and there's food too. Its a full day!

We had a very nice day today. We had lunch at Applebee's then went and visited the local Montessori school which was having an open house today. As well as seeing some of the classrooms (they accept children from 18 months onwards), there was a presentation and Q&A by the school's head. There were other kids in the room while we were there listening. They came over to check me out. I think they may have also liked my ducks!

Alexander Joseph BradshawWelcome to my new friend Alexander Joseph Bradshaw, proud son of Calvin Bradshaw and Maelisa McNeil. Alexander was born Thursday 8 January 2004 at 7:55am, 7lb 11oz (3.5 kg), 50cm long, with brown hair.

Mummy's been worrying about the amount of food I've been spitting up. Not so much spitting up as coming back out my mouth and draining down my cheek...and in my neck...and in my ear! Apparently I'm spitting up multiple times for hours after every feed. So Mummy called my doctor and last night  and they said we should go for a checkup. First, they weighed me to check I'm still putting on weight. And yes I am putting on weight -- about an ounce per day. I'm now 11 lb, 6 oz. So that's good. Then the doctor checked me out. He said I'm ok, but maybe some baby Zantac to ease the tummy cramps might be in order. So far so good -- I'm not spitting up as much. So let's see...

Today was fun. After my early morning feed and change, I had a bit of a nap (as is my thing), then I played (for the first time) my new kick piano that Roger gave me (thanks mate!). Then after Daddy went to work, and I had another feed and change, Mummy and I went to the bank to cash in all the coins we've been collecting the past 6 months. Then off to Starbucks for our morning coffee. Then over to Heather's to visit baby Rachel and to see the plans for their new house and to check out the selections for the granite countertops and lights in their new kitchen.

And that was just in the morning. When we came home, we had lunch, played on the gym mat, read the newspaper (my favourite bit is the catalogs), and then after a nap, we did Teletubby dancing while watching them on DVD, until Daddy came home. Then he fed me and told me a story while I drifted off to sleep. Phew - what a day!  Miss Gerrie invited me out for dinner (with my staff of course), but I was too tired! - sorry!

Big day!

I had a very big day with my Mummy, today. First of all, I went to Heather's house to play with Kate and Rachel and to have lunch. Rachel liked my ducks (as does everyone) and Kate played with me and help Mummy feed me my bottle. Then we went to Baby Gym and Mummy and I played with puppets, sang songs, played with balls, and had tummy time.

Then we came home and I sat in my high chair for the first time. I like my high chair because I can wheel all round the house in it (except the stairs). The high chair is a bit big for me - I can't put my feet on the footrest - missed it by 10cm! Then Daddy came home and read me Green Eggs and Ham, gave me a bath (with Mummy's help) them put me to bed with my blankie. I'm exhausted!

Dad's been busy this week too. Rehearsals have started at RLT for Honk! so he's there many nights. So I don't see as much of him. Tonight he has a night off, so that's good. My friends Gerrie and Katie are there with him too.

Oh, and check out Alexander's new Web site.

Snowing again!

Its snowing again today. They're forecasting a mix of snow (3-5"), sleet and freezing rain for the rest of the day. Not a good day for Zoes to be outside, I can tell you. Looks pretty though. Its currently -5°C.

Well with the snow and ice, I had both my staff to entertain me these past days. We were all snowed in Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The snow stopped Sunday afternoon, but it was followed by sleet and then freezing rain. And more on Monday too. The result was that the roads were too icy to go anywhere. So the result was I had both Mum and Dad home to entertain me - yay! Dad's back at work now.

Hey! Its been 9 days since my staff posted more photos of me! What's the world coming to?? I shall have to dock their pay...

Happy birthday to me!

Today I'm 3 months old!! Wow - ¼ year old. Pretty amazing really. Tonight mt staff are going to celebrate by having dinner with Gerrie & Dick at Margaux's (and to celebrate Gerrie's birthday too) while Amanda minds me.

Last night we had Bob & Charlene over for dinner and cards. We had takeaway from The Cheesecake Factory, then we played "500" (using the Australian rules). It was Bob & Dad versus Charlene & Mum. In the end they won one game each.

So what have been the highlights of my life so far?

  • Having a lovely Mummy to take care of me. Dad's not bad either! :-)
  • Having my Grandma and Granddad stay with me for a while, and meeting Uncle Paul too.
  • Tiffany "Man in the Moon" rattleSmiling and laughing at everyone
  • My first babysitter (yay Katie)
  • Touching snow
  • My Tiffany Rattle, and learning how to hold it!
  • The mobile in my bassinet and in my crib. The fan in the lounge room. In fact, lights and fans and ceilings in general.
  • Sleeping in (last night I slept 11 hours straight - 8pm-7am)
  • Getting to lick things: cheese, chocolate, champagne, wine, Johnnie Walker black label, beer, mashed potatoes, Tim Tams, vegemite, carrots
  • Discovering how much I love my swing.
  • Baby gym
  • Outfits!
  • Going places and being seen: Starbucks, the mall, Applebee's

I've been busy!
