On Saturday I went to see Amanda in her play at her school, Wakefield High School. She starred as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. I got to see it twice with Mummy and Daddy; once while Daddy took photos for the director of the production and then we all saw it again in the evening with friends. Lots of friends actually, as the cast of Petite Rouge plus Gerrie, Kathleen and Jamie came to see it too.
Between the two shows, we went to dinner with Dick and Gerrie and Dick's daughter's family who were here in Raleigh to visit. We were supposed to eat at Milton's a local Italian restaurant, but due to some disorganization by the staff organizing seating, we were still waiting 45 minutes later. Since we were running out of time, we went to Wendy's instead for some fast food.
Amanda was really good as Dorothy. The production runs again next weekend as well, but with a new cast - that's the way the school does it's big productions so as to give as many people as possible the chance to act on stage. It's a good idea, but I'm sure lots of work.

I had a great time last night. The three of us went to see Disney on Ice Princess Wishes at the RBC Center. It was fabulous; I got to see all my favourite princesses: Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Cinderella, Snow White, Belle, Jasmine, Ariel, and Mulan. Aurora is my favourite. There was lots of ice dancing and singing and even though it was way past my bedtime, I was very attentive the entire show.
Mickey, Minnie and Gooofy were there and Tinkerbell ran the show. Prince Phillip was the cutest, he had to fight a fire breathing dragon to save Aurora. Mummy bought me a special Ariel wand which plays music and lights up different colours. I love it and apparently it has a special two year replacement warranty (whatever that is), so even if it breaks, they will replace it so I can play the Ariel music over and over for at least two years. That's till I'm five!
Tomorrow afternoon Grandpa Shiv is coming to town on his was from London to Costa Rica. He's here until Tuesday so I'll have a few days to play with him, show him my new big bed, and to catch up on all the news. I'm excited!

I've been a bit slack - not updated my blog for nearly two weeks. Let me update you with some news.
It was great having Grandpa Shiv visit us for 3 days. He arrived Saturday and had to leave Tuesday to go to Costa Rica for business. I took Monday off so I could play with him. He bought me a mechanical bunny that hops along and makes funny noises - I love it and I especially like carrying it around by is ears.
We bought a real Christmas tree and Mummy and Daddy put it up in the corner of the breakfast room (where we've had it the past few years). I helped Mummy put ornaments on it. Daddy put up Christmas lights outside the house (the bay windows plus the holly trees either side of the garage door, plus a wreath above the garage) and inside the house (the railing up the stairs and above the fireplace). They look really pretty. Of course, Daddy set up the Christmas computer to control when they go on and off.
We have fun in the evenings driving around the place looking at all the Christmas lights that people have put up. I get Daddy to turn down a side street that looks interesting then we drive slowly past the houses (or sometimes we stop) to check them out. It is probably odd looking but I bet lots of others do it too. There are many houses in our development that have put up lights. Linda Craft (a real estate agent that organises a lot of social gatherings for everyone at Inman Park) has an especially elaborate light display.
I really love my new big bed. There's plenty of space for my friends (Baa Baa, Rabbie, Blankie and Bobo), plus if I get scared, Mummy or Daddy can lie next to me too to keep me from being too lonely. I also now have a story in bed each night, instead of on the sofa like I used to - much better. I'm not allowed to sleep in the guest bed anymore as well.
My friend Kate Felix graduated today from NC State University, so Mummy and Katie have gone out tonight to the Flying Saucer bar to celebrate with her. I minded Daddy.
Christmas is coming up soon too. I wonder if any of those presents under the tree are for me?
We're going next door to Ken & Jean's for Christmas lunch - that'll be lots of fun. And we're going to have a party at our house on New Year's Eve - should be huge!

Overheard in the TV room, while a promo is on for the next program:
Zoe: Can I watch "Little Bear", Daddy? I love it.
David: Oh? You've seen it before?
Zoe: No, but I love it
I'm officially sick again. I woke up yesterday morning with a temperature, 101.6°F. I'd been coughing a fair bit during the night, sounding like a seal apparently. It was most uncomfortable. So we went to the doctor and yes I have Croup. So I'm at home today (as I was yesterday). Mummy hopes I'm all better by Christmas. Santa's coming!

Today was a fun day. In the morning, Daddy, Mummy and I made a Gingerbread House. It was fun -- and yummy too. We played Christmas music and it was really fun. We then went out to the bookstore to buy some last minute presents. We had lunch at Bruegger's Bagels then home for a nap.
I didn't want to sleep in my bed so after a while I came downstairs where Daddy convinced me that I should either sleep on the couch or go back upstairs to my bed. I chose to sleep on the couch and promptly went straight to sleep. I had a great nap - nearly 3 hours!
After I woke up, I helped Mummy wrap Christmas presents. I picked the bows and which paper each present got, and I helped with the sticky tape too. I'm a good helper.
We have Bob & Charlene over tomorrow night for Christmas Eve dinner, then on Monday, Christmas Day, we're invited to Ken & Jean's next door for Christmas lunch. Should be lots of fun!
On a more concerning note, news from Australia. Grandpa Shiv was in hospital, maybe after suffering a mild heart attack while he was in Costa Rica. They are still doing tests and he's allowed to go home for Christmas. We spoke to him on the phone and he sounded well. I hope it turns out. Also Grandma Dorothy and Grandad Keith were in Melbourne to have Christmas with Grandpa Shiv and Grandma Gabriele, staying at Clocktower Apartments. While they were out, someone broke and stole Grandad Keith's laptop and digital camera. Pretty bad, huh!
My Daddy's also done his back in. Poor him.

I had a great Christmas.
On Christmas Eve, Bob and Charlene came over for dinner. I put on one of my lovely new Christmas dresses that Grandpa Shiv bought me. It's Ivory coloured silk with pink roses and it's very nice. Mummy made a prawn salad followed by stuffed turkey for dinner. I was allowed to be excused from the prawns and I got to watch a program on Mummy's laptop (Nick Jr has various videos on their Web site).
After main course and before desert (a Harrods pudding courtesy of Grandpa) we got to open some presents. More specifically I opened the presents I got for them! I got Bob a book of paper airplanes and I got Charlene a book about North Carolina gardens.
After a pleasant evening, they went home to their house and Mummy helped me put out milk and cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. I wanted to make sure Santa would drop by. I've been good this past year!
The next morning was Christmas. I came downstairs and asked Mummy and Daddy "was it a stay-at-home day?". I was assured it was and that I didn't have to go to school. We all went out in the lounge room and I was very concerned that someone drank Santa's milk! Mummy pointed out that Santa had been and left me a pile of presents near the fireplace just below my Christmas stocking, and it was stuffed full too! I was so excited and immediately began opeing all the presents.
Santa brought me an Ariel nightie and the Ariel DVD, Aurora shoes, some M&Ms, a ballet leotard, ballet stockings and shoes, plus Thomas the Tank Engine tracks and trains. Hello Kitty hair clips, Hello Kitty stickers and food for my toy kitchen in a shopping basket. So many things! Uncle Paul and Aunty Karin sent me a Fairy wishes talking Dora too. I got Daddy some photography books (to go with the tripod that Mummy bought him) and I got Mummy some very nice earings from Jarad's Jewelery.
In the afternoon, after my nap, we went next door for Christmas dinner with the Ken & Jean Oakley. The whole family were there. Ellie was there with her parents David and Sally. Plus Tori and Matt (Sally's brother), Phil (Sally's brother) and Doreen (Jean's sister). We were very pleased to be invited. Dinner was really yummy. We went home quite late and I was very tired so I went to bed straight away.

Overheard in the car on the way to the mall:
Kiron: We're going to the mall and we'll have dinner there
Zoe: After dinner, we can go to Starbucks. Is that a great idea?

Daddy is recovering from his sore back. Last week, the pain was getting unbearable and not getting any better, so he went to the doctor and got some medicine. Unfortunately, the drugs he got for the pain and swelling and the antibiotics for his sinus infection interacted badly and he soon go a rash all over him - it was quite itchy. And his back was still very sore! So back to the doctor and they gave him an injection and new drugs.
Unfortunately, with all of that an no short-term end in sight for him getting better, the decided to cancel the New Year's Eve party we had planned for tonight. A shame really, but it would have been too hard to manage, even with me helping (and I'm a good helper). I hope Daddy gets better soon.
Katie and Kate came over the other night after we had a short dinner at the Tap Room and Daddy got his new drugs. Kate and Katie brought me nice presents and I gave them a present each too (a book for Kate and some Body Shop stuff for Katie). They gave me a toy Princess Castle, and a Chutes and Ladders game (think Snakes and Ladders), and toy fishing game. I had lots of fun playing the games with Katie and Kate. We had champagne to celebrate a belated Christmas (well they did - I was good). Thanks for the presents!
Since then, Mummy's got sick too. She's probably got what Daddy had - all congestion and gunk in her head. Poor Mummy. And to make matters worse, our hot-water system packed it in last night, so we had to get the repairman over to fix it.
Tonight (New Year's Eve) will probably be a quiet night with Daddy's sore back and Mummy being sick too. At least I'm OK now that my Croup has all gone.

Overheard in the lounge room:
Mummy: Zoe, is Daddy a winner?
Zoe: No, he's a grape.
